

When it came to the mobile devices, the power switch had always been a trouble. To some extent, their sizes, energy efficiency and power output were insufficient, which weakened the continuous decrease in the shape of the devices they supported, and thus affected their mobility.
Now, USB power supply (PD) could provide power and data transmission of 100 W through a single cable. This convenience meant that USB PD was becoming the first choice for charging medium and small devices. However, one of the challenges to implement the USB PD was to provide different kinds of power output at a higher level to meet people's urgent needs. At the same time, it would not ultimately use an energy efficient, expensive and clumsy charger.
Using a wide forbidden body, such as a GaN power device, was a potential way to increase the energy efficiency and shrink the size of the energy boosting device. However, it was an emerging technology in this field, and it was relatively expensive at present. As another option, it could improve the structure of the device. For example, it could activate the positive lead position reaction and use the standard super junction MOSFET, which could support the designer to use the proven technology and push the design of the device into the next phase.
We live in an increasingly complex and mobile world. We always bring many kinds of devices, such as smart phones, laptops and tablet computers, as well as more and more wearable devices, for health monitoring and other applications. The manufacturer invested a large amount of research and development fund to meet the needs of consumers, including increasing functions and shrinking size / increasing convenience.
When we were travelling, we began to realize that although the manufacturer had made great progress in the small size of the devices themselves, the power grids and charger they needed were a little backward and might be more cumbersome than the devices. This was especially obvious during a trip. It often needed more than one charger to meet the requirements of different devices and wires.
Obviously, some form of standard was needed to make the charging have commonality, so as to reduce the number of charger that they had to carry, and to reduce the number of electronic waste of electric appliances that they had to quit every year.
